Job Announcement: Social Worker/Activities Specialist– Senior Behavioral Care Unit
Location: Troy Regional Medical Center, Troy, AL

Troy Regional Medical Center seeks a compassionate and motivated Social Worker/Activities Specialist to join our Senior Behavioral Care Unit. The Social Worker/Activities Specialist will play a crucial role in providing both group and individual activities to support our patients' physical and psychosocial well-being. Working closely with the Activities Director and the Unit Director, this position will enhance the quality of life for our senior patients through thoughtfully designed activities programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and facilitate group and individual activities designed to meet senior patients' needs, abilities, and interests.
  • Document all activities conducted, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping.
  • Support clerical functions such as completing chart audits and other clerical tasks as delegated by the Unit Director.
  • The Activities Specialist will assist in the Social Work department as assigned by the Director of Social Work.   The tasks may include clerical work, interviews with patients and families, correspondence with referring facilities, and participation in outreach activity.  
  • Maintain patient and staff safety at all times, adhering to Troy Regional Medical Center policies and CMS/TJC guidelines.

Qualifications:

  • Education: LBSW preferred; a combination of experience and education will be considered.    
  • Experience: Hospital experience working in a geriatric dementia unit or mental health facility is preferred.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • CPR certification required.
    • CPI certification required.
    • NCCAP or similar Activity Professional Certification required within 6 months of hire.

  • Professional demeanor with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with a team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
